🌐 Part 1: VR 360° Exploration Slide

The first slide in this experience features a 360-degree environmentĀ that encourages curiosity and spatial exploration. Learners can pan and click to engage with various visual elements — a design choice aimed at promoting engagement and ā€œunlockingā€ their math adventure.

This slide was not designed to collect data or report to an LMS. Instead, its purpose was to:

  • Set the tone for an interactive math experience

  • Showcase immersive design possibilities in Captivate

  • Allow learners to freely explore without performance pressure

ā“ Part 2: LMS-Compatible Custom Question Slide

Following the VR experience, learners encounter a custom question slideĀ built entirely from scratch — not using Captivate’s default quiz templates. This gave me more control over layout, visual design, and interaction logic.

šŸ”§ How It Works:

  • I created custom buttonsĀ for each multiple-choice answer

  • Each button was assigned an Advanced Action

  • The correct answer used Submit InteractionĀ + Mark Slide Complete

  • Incorrect answers were configured to trigger visual feedback (but in this case, feedback was suppressed — see below)

šŸŽÆ LMS Reporting Setup:

  • The slide was marked as reportableĀ to the LMS

  • The interaction used SCORM 1.2Ā settings to ensure compatibility

  • The module was tested using SCORM Cloud, confirming the question’s score and completion status were tracked

šŸ—£ Note on Feedback:

While Captivate allows for custom feedback to be triggeredĀ per answer, I intentionally disabled visible feedbackĀ for this slide. Since this was part of a pre-assessment, I didn’t want to guide or influence the learner’s choices with corrections or explanations at this stage. However, feedback logic was still built in and could be activated for post-test or formative use.

šŸ’” Instructional Design Rationale:

This two-part setup demonstrates how immersive experiences can be paired with meaningful assessment, even when spread across different slides. It also highlights how you can:

  • Use Captivate’s VR featuresĀ for engagement

  • Build custom, LMS-reportable interactionsĀ using Advanced Actions

  • Balance design creativity with technical functionality
